New art series “Afigurations of Time”

After one year working in a new scientific research, the artworks developed is about to be launched in a couple of weeks in Brazil and in Paris during October.

“Afigurations of Time” is the most important series and research which I have been working on. Reason? To study perception of Time you need.. Time. Methods. References. Despite the challenge of how to transfer the theory to a visual display. The series and the hundred research pages were my fin bachelor work, which received the maximum score by three professors of UNESP University. I am just starting to develop my thesis, for sure two years of scientific studies are not enough to set up a new.. Proposal to analyse time.

I have worked with neuroscience, mapping learning theories, philosophy of science, mind, metaphysics, logic, perception it self..plus physics, material properties, art theories to develop such study. So, one month later the presentation at university, I invite you to check out the series on the solo exhibition “Afigurations of Time” in Brazil, Bauru, during 12/07-09/08.

The New series of the artworks that compose the series weren’t published yet anywhere. I was thinking about how to do it, because the series is a half theory half practical object, so it isn’t about the aesthetics, the best pictures, it is quite complicated to explain how they were crafted and why they were what they are. Maybe publish some articles about would be useful, but it would take at least a couple of months and it would be exactly on the same time that my new other research about colourblind images, which is also important and it is mainly academic. Anyways, you all know that this website is about talking heart-to-heart and not a monologue or a formal speech about my productions, once media makes me do it all the time as well when we’re talking about academic stuff.

So here I would like to present a bit of the four pieces.. But the most important thing is to invite you to the exhibition. If you’re in America, then it is possible to you to visit the first exhibition, if you’re in Europe, October will be shaped to you.

Not Random Art Magazine got the best pictures of the pieces, and of course the monograph got the best text.

The artworks are four. Each chapter of my monography correspond to one studied field and result in one artwork.

Chapter one, about intelligible perception and the relation between subject to object result on the 360* assemblée and painting, “Nest”.

Afiguration of time number I – Nest.
Assemblage. Vannie Gama, 2018.

Chapter two, about space-time definitions and problems about absolute time and relative time by logic, physics (both classic mechanics and quantum mechanics) result on the horizontal 360* painting “Nebula”.

Chapter three, about how does the brain understands and feel things, wheres  actually perception and how perceiving is a creative, plastic process results on the twin of “Nebula”, “Fall”.

Final Chapter, the fourth, about how all these areas are in fact, connected and how the art image is actually directly involved in time representation. This chapter results on the most important artwork that I have done until now, “Cube-Raum”.

Afiguration of time number IV – Cube-Raum. Object, assemblé between sculpture and painting. Vannie Gama, 2019.

“Cube-Raum” is actually a very complicated piece to be defined.. Isn’t a sculpture, neither a painting, a assemblage or a object. It was crafted from the bottom to the top, everything was carefully crafted, designed to be multiple in form and in image. Lots of spatial geometry and Minkowski’s graphics were analized to get its final shape.

Professor Regilene Sarzi, Professor and artist Joedy Marins and professor Luana Wedekin.

The “news” on “Afigurations of Time” is that all the paintings are 360* structures. You need to “orbited” about them to get the total view. And some pieces you can’t get the full spatial view at all, doesn’t matter from which angle are you looking at. Raum is a amazing German word. Is also a philosophical paradox. That’s why Cube-Raum is a incognita itself. Also, all paintings doesn’t have any narrative cycle of serial events happening, even though they are about natural phenomena..  they aren’t abstract. Moreover, the presentation of the pieces are metaphors for each dimension that composes us.. Axis X, y, x and t.

Convite de exibição solo de “Afigurações do Tempo”

They were made. To surround and be surrounded, as a perception dependency paradox of existence. Pretty crazy after all.

The Complete formal version of this presentation will be available on Behance next week.

Artists Jeff Zimbato, Daniel Martins, friends Isabella Facin, José, Lucas Fidélis and the photographer Laura Castralli.
